The first quilt I made for my then 8 year old son is now much too small for his 14 year old almost 6 ft. tall body. Any tips or links out there about the best way to add another border or two to make his quilt bigger ???

Has the quilt been quilted or is it just a quilt top? If it is still a quilt top, then it will be fairly easy to add borders. One quick way to add size is to turn the original quilt into a center medallion on point. You can also do a series of blocks for a border around the original quilt. If the blocks are similar as what is in the original quilt it will tie in great. I love borders that incorporate blocks. Send in a picture and I will see if I can be of more specific help.

If the quilt is already quilted, I think I would remove the binding, then add to the outside using one of the quilt as you go methods. I would create my borders and/or blocks connect them together in sections, quilt them, then I would attach them to the original quilt by butting the edges together and top stitching a sashing piece to join them.
